چکیده

community An ecological term referring to a set of species that occur in the same location that have the potential to affect each other either directly or indirectly. community structure The web of potential biological interactions among members of a community that may be characterized in terms of diversity, complexity, hierarchy, and stability. ecotone A zone of transition between two different habitats that may contain a community of organisms distinct from either habitat. habitat structure Analogous to community structure, but limited to the physical structural aspects of a habitat. The structure of habitats may be characterized by such measures as complexity, heterogeneity, regularity, stratification, and fractal dimensionality. microhabitat Locations within a habitat where organisms may carry out important aspects of their lives, such as places for harvesting food, nesting, or taking shelter.

Evaluation of habitat sustainability indexes is essential in wildlife management and conservation of rare species. Suitable habitats are required in wildlife managements and conservation also, they increase reproduction and survival rate of species. In this study in order to mapping habitat sustainability and recognizing habitat requirements of Iranian Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus venaticus), fiel...

The Niche

The concept of niche (setting, context, habitat, environment) has been little studied by ontologists, in spite of its wide application in a variety of disciplines from evolutionary biology to economics. What follows is a first formal theory of this concept, a theory of the relations between objects and their niches. The theory builds upon existing work on mereology, topology, and the theory of ...

Predicting the Climatic Ecological Niche of Artemisia aucheri Boiss in Central Iran using Species Distribution Modeling

Changes in the geographical distribution of plants are one of the major impacts of the climate change. This study was aimed to predict the potential changes in the distribution of Artemisia aucheri Boiss in Isfahan rangelands. Therefore, six bioclimatic variables and two physiographic variables were used under the Generalized Linear Model (GLM), Flexible Denotative Analysis (FDA), Surface Range...

Monitoring habitat dynamics for rare and endangered species using satellite images and niche-based models

The potential distribution of critically rare or endangered species is necessary to assess species conservation status and guide recovery plans. Habitat models based on remotely sensed geospatial data are increasingly used to predict the suitability of sites for rare and endangered species, but in rapidly changing landscapes, habitat evaluations must reflect temporal as well as spatial variatio...

Habitat suitability modelling and niche theory

1. The concept of the ecological niche relates a set of environmental variables to the fitness of species, while habitat suitability models (HSMs) relate environmental variables to the likelihood of occurrence of the species. In spite of this relationship, the concepts are weakly linked in the literature, and there is a strong need for better integration. 2. We selectively reviewed the literatu...
